Distributors of hygiene products in high school
The government “encourages the establishment” of distributors of feminine hygiene products in schools, said Thursday Claude Meisch (DP), Minister of National Education, in response to MPs Djuna Bernard (Déi Gréng) and Josée Lorsché ( Dei Greng). The high schools have already been approached in this direction since 2021, with in particular the sending of a letter to the directors.
The objective is to install “five distributors per public school”, announces the minister. So far, only one has installed such equipment, at his own expense. A specific budget line will be provided for the 2023 budget, but high schools can now begin the acquisition process. For the moment, 29 of them have already ordered at least one device, according to the minister.
Each device, which requires little maintenance, costs 380 euros, you have to add 200 euros to fill it with tampons and pads. Refills remain at the expense of the establishments. Currently, in the absence of a distributor, the psycho-social services of the high schools are supposed to be able to provide hygienic products to the students who need them.
