After Supaero in Toulouse, Clément Huber dreams of being the new Thomas Pesquet
Clément Huber is 29 years old and he may be the new Thomas Pesquet. This 29-year-old man from Isère, who studied at ISAE SUPAERO in Toulouse, is candidate for the European Space Agency to become an astronaut. He is one of 1,362 candidates from all over the world, selected on file after the first round. Initially there were 23,000 applications and in the end there were only 4 to 6!
A pilot’s license, diving, Russian…
Clément Huber works at Diabeloop, a company that makes medical devices for insulin control in diabetics; in the past, he went to Navya, a manufacturer of autonomous shuttles. Outraged SUPAERO, he made a visit to Saint-Cyr and he is reserved, having refused to become an officer within the year. He has a patent of pilot and recently started diving and Russian.
After psychotechnical tests at Hamburg in Germany, he will engage in psychological tests to identify his personality. Clément Huber is preparing in particular with the tests of the “cadets” of Air France. “I define myself as pugnacious, warm and calm”, he explains to our colleagues from France Inter.
Report by Sophie Bécherel, of France Inter:
Last December, Clément Huber told France Bleu Isère how he experienced the psychotechnical tests in Germany, for which he worked twenty hours a week. He was able to meet about fifteen other candidates there. “It was very nice to be able to exchange and meet other people with quite rich backgrounds.“, he explains, “All this, in a good atmosphere, still very friendly”. He should know by the end of January 2022 if his dream (and the selections) can continue.
