Two Ukrainians are to be deported from Moldova after being sentenced to prison for drug trafficking.
Two Ukrainian citizens are to be expelled from the Republic of Moldova, after being convicted by a new court for drug trafficking. It is about a man and a woman, who will spend 7 and a half years in prison each.
After serving their sentences, they will be deported to Ukraine and confiscated the proceeds of illegal activity – 1,500 euros from a man and 3,000 euros from a woman – as well as the nearly 40,000 lei that were spent examining the court case.
The two were detained on July 26, 2021, and have so far been in custody at the request of PCCOCS prosecutors. In the case of the woman, she was caught red-handed in a forest strip in Chisinau, when she buried a corner with the packages of drugs in the ground, for later taking over by couriers. She was responsible for actions similar to those charged to the defendant – packing drugs and placing drug packages in specific places on public land, for other stages of their marketing process (including street intersections, but also at the trunk of a tree). . near a church).
As a result of the searches, at their home and in the places where they placed the drugs, drugs were found and seized in large quantities such as PVP (called “salt”), marijuana, methadone, other psychotropic substances (including in the form of dried mushrooms). ). , with psychotropic psilocin content). For their activity, they were paid in cryptocurrency, but also with certain amounts of drugs.
The defendants knew each other, but they acted separately. The woman came from Ukraine to Moldova periodically for two weeks; and the man worked in Chisinau in two places, as a consultant in the field of healthy eating. Both pleaded guilty and, according to the law, benefited from the simplified procedure of judging the case, without administering additional evidence in court.
According to the case file, the defendants were part of a well-organized criminal group. The members of the group were secretly recruited and assigned well-defined roles, and the vast majority of them did not know each other personally and communicated through internet platforms, with identities other than real names. Within the group, there are different levels of authority and responsibility, with people with the role of operator in communicating with customers, but also people who care in contact with drug products – packers, couriers, sponsored by a general manager.
In addition to these two convictions, the case of another accomplice is currently being examined. At the same time, the criminal investigation against another member of the group.
The sentence handed down by the Chisinau District Court, Buiucani headquarters, has the right to appeal, and until the sentence becomes final, the two benefit from the effects of the presumption of innocence.
