Toulouse reached an area of 19,500 m² for the last kilometer
The Pink City now benefits from an imposing urban logistics centre. After 20 months of work, the Toulouse Logistique Urbaine (TLU) platform was shut down on December 9, becoming the first regional platform dedicated to last-mile delivery in the Occitanie region. This last mile platform project is the result of an architectural competition launched in 2017 by Poste Immo, the real estate subsidiary of Le Groupe La Poste, to imagine TLU’s multimodal industrial platform in the Fondeyre area to the north of the city. All with the aim of relieving congestion in the Toulouse metropolis by pooling the flow of goods transport. This approach is part of a public service delegation designated by Toulouse Métropole to the Lumin’Toulouse consortium, of which TLU is the subsidiary. 51% owned by Semmaris (manager of the Rungis International Market), 44% by Poste Immo, the real estate subsidiary of Le Groupe La Poste, and 5% by Caisse d’Épargne Midi-Pyrénées, Lumin’Toulouse is responsible for the Fondeyre logistics zone since July 2017.
An investment of 28.5 million euros
The platform site was led by the architectural agency Experience for work initiated in February 2020 which required the participation of 15 main companies, 90 companions for an overall investment budget of 28.5 million euros. Composed of a double building approximately 200 m long and 40 m wide, as well as a truck parking lot with 144 spaces, the new urban area has replaced five old buildings dating from the 1970s. “ The challenge was to design buildings that meet the use of operators while having a strong architectural imprint “says Aurélie Gonzalez, real estate project manager at the Occitanie regional department and project management assistant on the Lumin project. ” We wanted to get away from the classic image of “shoebox” type platforms »
As a reminder of the site’s identity, the two new halls have shed roofs (serrated) which also contribute to energy efficiency. Thanks to its anchorage in urban areas, TLU aims to make deliveries by green and innovative modes of transport and 50 electric charging stations are accessible in the car park. A first building was delivered in mid-July 2021 to accommodate UPS and offers the possibility of accommodating logisticians specializing in fresh and cold products. The second building is partially occupied over 2,800 m² by Urby, a subsidiary of the La Poste group and the Banque des Territoires, and should see the arrival in March 2022 of a La Poste parcel platform over 5,400 m².
