“There is an anti-mafia consensus in Bulgaria.” Rumen Radev took the oath
President Rumen Radev and Vice President Iliana Yotova are sworn in before the National Assembly for this mandate.
“I swear in the name of the Republic of Bulgaria to abide by the Constitution and the laws of the country and in all my actions to be guided by the interests of the people. I have sworn,” read the oath they took in the plenary hall.
“There is an anti-mafia consensus in Bulgaria,” the president said in his address. He described the return of statehood as key, including swift reform of the prosecution service, because otherwise the way to revanchism could be opened. The head of state also said that he would be a critic of the new government, but was open to dialogue.
“The state is ahead not to be ruled by the screen, under the table, on the phone or behind the scenes. Corruption must be crushed in order to survive as a state and society,” she said.
In the plenary hall the member of the council, the chairman-chairman Kiril Petkov, the members of the Council of Ministers, in the Constitutional Council, representatives of the diplomatic corps and religions are registered in us.
At the beginning of the solemn ceremony, a decision will be read, which the CEC announces Radev and Yotova elected President and Vice President of Bulgaria. The two will take office on January 22nd.
Rumen Radev’s candidacy was nominated by the initiative committee, and in the second round of the presidential election it was supported by 4 political forces. He was re-elected president with a huge lead over his opponent Anastas Gerdjikov, backed by GERB. However, Radev’s victory came amid record low turnout – just over 30%, according to opinion polls.
