STOCKHOLM, January 19 (Reuters) – Sweden set a new daily record for covid-19 cases and registered 37,886 cases on January 18, the health authority’s data showed on Wednesday as a fourth wave of the virus that increased across the country.
The daily infection rates are usually revised slightly as any delayed registrations of additional cases are added to the national total for a given day.
The previous record of 26,566 cases was set on 12 January.

The record came despite limited national trial capacity.
Kronoberg, one of Sweden’s 25 healthcare regions, said on Wednesday that it will pause all tests except for hospital and elderly care patients and staff.
Sweden, with 10.4 million inhabitants, registered 67 new deaths since Tuesday.
The Swedish government announced new restrictions this month as the more contagious omicron variant has spread rapidly and is burdening the country’s healthcare. L8N2TQ2T7
