AntwerpThe street art on the Vlaamsekaai in the Antwerp South, with advertising for crime series Mocromafia on Streamz, should be deleted by the end of the month. The work was placed against an electrical box without a permit.
The artwork, which was created by artist Rwina and shows, among other things, a Kalashnikov rifle and a pistol, was still open last month. the subject of an open letter which Vlaams Belang councilor and representative of the people Filip Dewinter addressed to the video streaming platform ‘Streamz’. Dewinter asked for the publicity to be removed because it would be about glorifying the Mocromafia and the violence of arms. “Such publicity bans drug violence and conveys a message of drug mafia normalization of drugs.”
Dewinter is pleased that the work is being removed. “Images of Kalashnikovs have no place on power stations.”
