Metro D: Prague has completed a geological survey
“We have finished one stage, which we will soon follow. We have all the data, we have a contractor and also the first smaller building permit. We are waiting for the permit for the main construction, which is in the Ministry of Transport, and we are waiting for a decision, “said Scheinherr.
The survey was conducted in four places. He finished on two in August 2020 and on the other two now. “It took place so that there would be no surprises during the main construction and, if necessary, it was possible to adjust the projects, which did not happen in the end. The projects already have geological complexity, “said Witowski.

Now a part has been excavated in Pankrác, which will serve as a transfer between lines C and D. Other constructions created during the survey will also be used. It was originally supposed to cost 1.6 billion, but in the end it was more expensive. “It was not that the budget was exceeded, but together with the Mining Authority we came to the conclusion that some work is done in advance,” said Witowski.
The specific date of the start of construction of the route towards Olbrachtov is not yet clear. The main building permit is still not valid. The Ministry of Transport addresses the comments of some residents. “We hope that they will be settled in the coming days or weeks so that the building authority can authorize us for the permit. We would like to kick in the spring, “said Witowski.
The city is negotiating with the EIB to finance the construction. “We anticipate that we will have an approved loan for half of this amount in the first half of the year. We will finance the second one from our own resources, “said Vyhnánek. He also said he would appeal to the new government to help with the construction. “The metro is an investment that is financed by the city everywhere in the world in cooperation with the state, which unfortunately does not happen in the case of the metro D. This is an investment of national importance, “he added.
In the first phase, a metro will be built between Pankrác and Nové Dvory and will then continue to the Písnice Depot. In the future, a section from Pankrác to náměstí Míru is to be built. It has not yet been decided where the metro from Náměstí Míru will lead. One of the variants is Republic Square, according to the other, the route should go to Žižkov and further to Vysočany. According to this year’s update, the total estimated price is 97.79 billion crowns, the investor is DPP.
