Inauguration of the X Edition of the Master in Geriatric Medicine “Giancarlo Ghironzi”
The San Marino Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics (ASGG), is pleased to inform that the inauguration of the X Edition of the Master in Geriatric Medicine “Giancarlo Ghironzi” will take place on January 21 in the presence of the Secretary of State for Education and Culture. , the Hon. Andrea Belluzzi. There are 20 new candidates, fellow doctors and psychologists who will participate in the new course of the academic year 2021/22, which will take place in distance learning and when possible in person, which will be added to the over 160 graduates of the previous editions. It is with enormous satisfaction that the President of the ASGG, Dr. Carlo Renzini, announces this result achieved, since the birth of the Master, conceived by the same association and carried out in collaboration with the University of San Marino and Ferrara. . A II level training course, so complete and compelling on the health and social problems of the elderly, for general practitioners, specialists, graduates in psychology and nursing sciences, has found over the years more and more interest and recognition also by of prestigious scientific societies such as the Italian Society of Gerontology and Geriatrics (SIGG) and the International Association of Gerontology Geriatrics (IAGG). In such a particular moment, linked to the SARS-CoV2 pandemic, in which all health services are put to the test with considerable sacrifices by doctors and health personnel to face a painful story that affects people of all ages, genders, social strata, but especially frail elderly people, the association considers it important to develop operational indications for the future and to review a more efficient healthcare and assistance organization, also starting with specific training courses for medical and healthcare personnel. We have already started, ten years or ago, with the foundation of the ASGG and the planning of a Master in Geriatric Medicine under the presidency of Dr. Giancarlo Ghironzi to whom the Master is named today. All this, thanks to the direction of Professor Giovanni Zuliani of the University of Ferrara and the involvement of eminent professors from the most prestigious Italian universities, the Master has led to these prestigious internationally recognized results. We hope that it is a concrete example to act as a stimulus to the institutions responsible for promoting and defining paths for health care for the most vulnerable people: the elderly. A small reality like our Republic of San Marino, rich in its experience in social and health policies, can go back to being a model of hospital / territory organization. The ASGG thanks all those who have shown a real contribution to its initiatives in particular, the public institution of San Marino, the Società Unione Mutuo Soccorso and also the private supporters.
