In China, the Russian comedy “Kholop” directed by Klim Shipenko will be re-shot. This is stated in the press release of the project, received by the editors of “Lenta.ru”.
The rights to produce a remake of the highest-grossing Russian film in the history of domestic distribution were acquired by the Chinese film company Alibaba Pictures. The deal refers to the final paintings in 2023-2024.
The original meeting premiered on December 26, 2019. The production was carried out by the Yellow, Black and White studios, the MEM Cinema film company, and the GPM KIT group of companies also performed at the Rossiya 1 TV channel and supported the Cinema Fund.
It is known that Alibaba Pictures has previously taken part as an investor and producer in films such as Mission: Impossible: Rogue Nation, Mission: Impossible: Fallout, 800, Gemini, and others.
In December 2021, it became known that a remake of the film musical “West Side Story” by American director Steven Spielberg was banned in Saudi Arabia, covering the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman.
