EAS is closing in on Salzburg – Hockey-News.info
The Eishockey Akademie Steiermark was able to reduce the gap to Salzburg, second in the table, with a shootout victory in a duel. However, the EC Grand Immo VSV was able to extend its lead in the table.
The battle for second place in the Young Stars League regular season is coming to a head. The Eishockey Akademie Steiermark is only two points behind the Bulls after the 2:1 shutout victory against EC Red Bull. The opponents drawn are anything but easy for Salzburg, as they still have to play fourth-placed Nordic Hockey Academy and leaders Villach. However, the EAS only has one more season to catch up. They meet the Okanagan Hockey Club Europe at the end of the regular season.
Leader of the table EC Grand Immo VSV was able to extend its lead in the table after two impressive victories last week and thus already secured first place in the regular season. The Villach team beat the NHA 5:3 and celebrated a clear 8:2 win over the Icehawks Hockey Club, bottom of the table, on Sunday. The top trio in the league, Grega Paltzlar, Mark Sojer and Stefan Ortner – the VSV cracks occupy places one to three in the top scorer list – were able to fill up their goals account.
