Covid vaccines: Belgium will donate 8 million euros for fair distribution
One billion doses of anti-covid vaccine have been distributed thanks to the international Covax mechanism. If it is essential for a fairer distribution, it is also imperfect.

One billion doses have been distributed in 144 countries through the Covax mechanism, set up at the start of the pandemic to ensure a fair distribution of vaccines around the world. Despite everything, 3.4 billion people have not been vaccinated. “This crisis is far from over,” admits José Manuel Barroso, head of Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance. “It is critical to continue the efforts. Covax therefore wants to raise 5.2 billion dollars (4.58 billion euros). Belgium has undertaken to finance 8 million. “I gave my green light to further support Covax for the purchase of covid vaccines, and to support logistics and deliveries,” said Belgian Minister for Cooperation Meryame Kitir (SP.A). “Furthermore, I want to seek structural solutions to current vaccine inequities. »
