Biodiversity Charter | Metropolis Rouen Normandy
body text
In order to act on the preservation of biodiversity on its territory, both in remarkable natural spaces, but also in urban areas, the elected officials of the Metropolis have unanimously validated the new Biodiversity Charter 2021-2026.
Biodiversity is a cross-cutting theme in relation to many other areas of expertise developed by the Metropolis: management and protection of water resources, agriculture, forestry, landscapes and tourism.
This charter is a document of intent and coordination of actions in favor of biodiversity on the territory of the Rouen Normandy Metropolis, in conjunction with the municipalities and numerous technical and institutional partners.
It revolves around 8 main axes in connection with the various regional sub-frames:
Axis 1 – Learn naturalist and land knowledge – identify and protect the green, blue, black and brown wefts of the territory
Axis 2 – Restore and enhance the aquatic substructure and wetlands
Axis 3 – Restore, manage and enhance the wooded sub-framework (cf. CFT)
Axis 4 – Protect, restore and enhance dry silica and limestone environments
Axis 5 – Protect and enhance biodiversity through agricultural practices in rural areas
Axis 6 – Develop nature in the city
Axis 7 – Monitor environmental disturbances and work to protect rare and threatened species
Axis 8 – Concert, raise awareness, support and accompany the actors of the territory
