The management of Prague 2 City Hall is changing its decision under pressure from the Pirates and the public. At the next meeting of the Prague 2 City Council, the forgiveness of a debt of more than 277 thousand crowns, which arose for a senior in a municipal lease due to a defective safety valve at the boiler, will be discussed again. The matter was discussed by the Prague 2 City Council at its December meeting, but at that time the proposal of the deputy Magdalena Valdmanová (Pirates) to forgive the debt was not approved, only the proposal to reduce the amount of regular installments passed.
“The ODS continues its anti-social and ruthless policies. The change of mayoress did not change anything. Were it not for our collection, which we launched in support of the lady, nothing would have happened at all and the lady would have to start paying off the debt. She thus experienced Christmas and New Year in uncertainty. The management of the town hall only got involved when the media and the public became very interested in the matter. And so it is in Prague 2 with everything, ” Valdman says.
If the City Council (ODS, YES, TOP 09) really approves the debt forgiveness at its Monday meeting, as announced in the press release, the material will go to the March council meeting, where it must also be re-approved.
“Over 77,000 crowns from 128 people were collected from the transparent account of the collection. If Prague 2 really forgives the debt, of course we will return all the money to the donors and we thank them very much for their help. Their good result supported his management of Prague 2, that the negotiations were absolutely antisocial and inexcusable, “ adds Valdman.
Prague 2 has so far shown that it has taken all necessary steps to stop water consumption in the senior’s apartment in a timely manner. And this is not the only case. Earlier, the Pirates of Prague 2 called for the improvement of the system solution and proposed to install smart water meters with remote reading in municipal flats, thanks to which similar technical defects would be detected in time.
“At the same time, I am glad that we have forced the current management of Prague 2 not only to forgive the debt, but also to set up effective control mechanisms that I can prevent in similar situations,” adds the chairman of the Pirates’ Club Jaroslav Němec, who has long criticized the unsystematic approach in property management under the responsibility of Deputy Mayor Michael Grundler (TOP 09).
