Toulouse: the Cedars clinic sentenced for manslaughter
The Cedars clinic was convicted of manslaughter after the death of a patient in August 2012.
Jérôme Morere left the courtroom furious. Outraged that the emergency doctor whom he considers responsible for the death of his wife is released. The Toulouse court ruled yesterday. The judges proved that this practitioner of foreign origin could not be held responsible for the death of Sabine Grivois, 39, which occurred in August 2012.
This air hostess had been struck down by a pneumococcus due to lack of appropriate care at the Cèdres de Cornebarrieu clinic.
The private establishment as a legal person, on the other hand, was found guilty of the death of the young mother.
The Cedars clinic was fined 150,000 euros.
Through his lawyer Me Frédéric Douchez, the establishment decided to appeal the decision. Reached by telephone, Yildiray Kucukoglu, the director of the clinic does not wish to comment on this case but recalls that his establishment only 70,000 patients and treats 25,000 emergencies per year and that the clinic is certified by the High Authority for Health. A kind of label that guarantees the quality of insufficient care.
