“The proposed increase in the cost of bills risks not only nullifying the window of recovery – says the president of Confcommercio of the province of Rimini, Gianni Indino – but of definitively putting businesses in crisis with very heavy repercussions on the entire national economy. If the estimated increases will weigh on households over 1,200 euros per year, it is certainly no better for businesses. The data from the Confcommercio analysis speak for themselves: for the first quarter of 2022, increases in electricity and gas costs of 42% are estimated. Just to give a few examples, for a shop the electricity bill of about 19 thousand euros increases by over 6 thousand euros; for a restaurant the higher cost for the electricity bill would be around 8,500 euros per year out of a total of 28 thousand euros; for a hotel, the higher cost for the electricity bill would be around 20 thousand euros per year out of a total of 65 thousand euros. To these accounts is added the increase in the gas bill: another expense item which has almost doubled. The same is true for road haulage companies, whose operating costs for 30% are represented by fuel that is literally splashed, with costs that affect the final product and the entire supply chain. The timid recovery in consumption at the end of 2021 therefore risks being a short, very short parenthesis. Inflation and expensive bills will already reduce the real income of families and their spending capacity in the next few months, just as they will weigh intolerably on businesses with the risk of a rise in consumer prices and the stability of employment. On the part of the government, therefore, structural measures against expensive energy are immediately needed: the relief for families is well enough, but businesses cannot be forgotten. Whether it is the taxation of the extra profits of the energy giants or the setting aside of strategic gas stocks to be sold to companies at a controlled price, or any other solution, we must act quickly. Only by sheltering companies from what could turn out to be a meltdown will it be possible to think about the future, development, seizing the opportunities that the European Green Deal and the PNRR will put in place in the coming years to innovate production, distribution and supply models. services. To meet the needs of companies, such as Confcommercio in the province of Rimini, we have activated an energy consultancy desk: we have considered it essential in a moment like this in which entrepreneurs are under the crossfire of expensive bills, especially those energy related to the supply of electricity and gas. This too simer in the initiative that Confcomcio has launched throughout the national territory, called Entrepreneigreen. An initiative that aims to widely disseminate increasingly “green” behaviors that can also represent a development opportunity for the companies themselves. The recognition of environmentally virtuous behavior will take place through the assignment of a trademark issued to the company that will have achieved a score based on the most authoritative reference standards. These issues are very important not only for the future, but also for the present of companies. Practices with an impact on the environment and the community, but also on the economic activity itself. Training courses will be activated with which we will guide the associated companies through good sustainability practices. This is a rewarding process, which will make it possible to obtain the Entrepreneigreen brand above all, but to grasp, even for small and medium-sized enterprises, the enormous potential of the ecological transition, without forgetting economic sustainability, a precondition for any business planning “.
