The first mobile game, Golden Georges made in Toulouse
Created in 2018, the Toulouse studio Masseka unveils Golden Georges, its first mobile game, which will make you embody the character of Georges, a freestyle footballer, starting from nothing, in search of glory.
Teddy Kossoko is the young Toulouse founder and director of the Masseka studio, a production studio exclusively on the myths and legends of Africa, at the origin of the new mobile game Golden Georges. Arriving from the Central African Republic in 2012, Teddy studied IT at the Iut de Blagnac where he discovered the world of video games. “I realized the power of the video game which, thanks to its large community, allows messages and values to be passed on”, he says. By traveling in Europe, the Toulousain becomes aware that African culture is still unknown and that there are opportunities to be seized.
After a first board game, Teddy and his four collaborators embark on the creation of the first mobile game in 2019. Golden Georges follows the character of Georges, a destitute young African who dreams of becoming a professional freestyle footballer and winning the football cup. Golden. Throughout the 85 levels that make up the game, the story of the protagonist is told in the form of comics. It will take coordination and visualization to perform tricks, earn points and move forward.
The Toulouse studio worked with a Cameroonian company for the colors and graphics of the game. “Behind this mobile game, Masseka wants to build new bridges between Africa and the world and open the African market for mobile games, apps and BD to creators based in France and Europe,” says Teddy Kossoko. For the release of Golden Georges, Masseka is in collaboration with Orange Afrique, itself a partner of the CAN (African Cup of Nations football, editor’s note), “which opens the door to more direct collaborations between multinationals and independent video game companies”, specifies the Toulousain.
