Friday 14. January it was marked by Queen Margrethe of Denmark (81) had sat on the throne for 50 years. The anniversary will initially be celebrated big, but the biggest festivities are postponed until closer to summer.

The day was still celebrated in its own way, with a minister and a celebration arranged by the Danish Folketing. The royal family also laid wreaths at the tomb of the queens’ parents, King Frederik and Queen Ingrid.

Surprised by the princess

The picture shows the extended family together – something that belongs to the rarity in Denmark. Prince Joachim (52), Princess Marie (45) and the two children Princess Athena (9) and Prince Henrik (12) currently live in Paris.

Prince Joachim’s eldest sons, Prince Nikolai (22) and Prince Felix (19), have moved away from home and are fully occupied with jobs.

The Crown Prince’s family, consisting of Crown Prince Frederik (53) and Crown Princess Mary (49), as well as the twins Princess Josephine and Prince Vincent (11), Prince Christian (16) and Princess Isabella (14), are staying in Denmark.

They constantly appear in pictures on different occasions.

But it may seem that the latter has not been depicted for a while. A number of Danes seem surprised at how changed Princess Isabella has been since they last saw her.

“Insane how much she has changed,” one commented under the photo, which is shared on the royal house’s Instagram profile.

Isabella, who is number two from the left after Princess Benedikte (77), must have changed so much that another Instagram user claims not to have recognized the princess at first glance.

“It took three minutes before I realized that she on the left is Princess Isabella,” he commented.

“Fantastic picture, but Isabella looks very beautiful!”, A third has written.

This is far from the first time the 14-year-old princess has stolen the attention of the rest of the royal family. Reactions always flow when the royal house shares photos of the increasingly elderly princess.

When the Crown Prince’s family showed up for a national match between Denmark and Russia this summer, she also got the attention directed towards her.

At the time, it was the Instagram star Anders Hemmingsen who took the picture with the princess – a picture that spread like wildfire in dry grass in the press and social media.

But it is not just her presence that makes sure to stay away from the rest of the royal family. The princess also has several good lines in stock. One of them was caught on Prince Christian’s confirmation day last year.

When the family was gathered on a staircase to take pictures, the princess was initially told to follow Queen Margrethe into the room, but when she was halfway up the stairs, the counter message came.

She had to be left for more pictures. This made the 14-year-old clearly annoyed, in fact so annoyed that the following comment to his mother was captured on film:

– Did not you say I should go with Grandma? So, you are completely distant …
