Galleria dell’Accademia di Firenze, great success of the artificial intelligence project “Chatta col David”
FLORENCE – Stand recording a great success the artificial intelligence project entitled “Chat with David”, Launched last December by Gallery of the Academy of Florence, across the Gallery website, which allowed users to chat with David by divulging historical, artistic, religious information but also anecdotes and curiosities.
To date – explains a note from the Museum – “At the David, I was about 3500 fat requests, interesting, curious, sometimes even extravagant, formulated by both Italian and international users and, since the development of the chatbot takes place through the Deep Learning system – which provides for a progressive increase over time of its ability to understand and respond , in accordance with the requests made by users – the Accademia Gallery continues, through its social media channels IG @galleriaaccademiafirenze FB @galleriadellaaccademia, to stimulate its contribution “.
“I am very excited about the success of our Chatbot – he claims Cecilie Hollberg, director of the Galleria dell’Accademia in Florence – because the numerous questions perceived are the testimony of an interested and curious audience reached through a playful and different way from the usual. And this is precisely the goal to follow: to involve an increasingly heterogeneous and wider audience. “
An automated software capable of interacting with users in the form of chat
The project consists in the development of a chatbot (automated software able to interact with users in the form of chat) designed by Cecilie Hollberg, director of the Galleria dell’Accademia in Florence, using the tools developed by Querlo, a New York company specializing in the production of technological applications using artificial intelligence.
The initiative is in line with the will of the Ministry of Culture which strongly supports the commitment to use digital as a lever for the promotion of the Italian cultural heritage.
For the production of the contents, the Galleria dell’Accademia in Florence made use of the collaboration of the students of the “Didactics for museums” course of theAcademy of Fine Arts of Florence, followed by Professor Federica Chezzi – and by numerous students from other universities and nationalities, who were asked to think a tourist might ask the David.
The project was realized thanks also to the support of the Association of Friends of the Galleria dell’Accademia in Florence, constituting one of their main activities for 2021 and 2022, in line with the Association’s aim of always being close to the Gallery by acting as a bridge between the Museum and the city, awakening its interest through constant collaboration for the realization of its projects.
