Demir’s challenge in Salzburg: “The goal is first place” – football
Yusuf Demir is back at Rapid – and has high goals! In the training camp in Turkey, he dealt with a challenge to serial champions Salzburg.
Demir played nine games for FC Barcelona, but then the adventure in Spain was over again. The Catalans didn’t pull the call option, so the 18-year-old returns to Rapid. He is currently sweating with the Hütteldorfers in the training camp in Turkey – but he has never lost sight of the Bundesliga.
“It’s my home, very emotional and very beautiful,” says Demir about the return to the green-whites on “Rapid TV”. “Many were also sad that I didn’t continue playing at Barca, but there was also great joy that I’m back.”
“Wants to win everything”
Especially with the teammates: “Not much has changed, the players are my friends,” grins Demir. The look at the table hasn’t changed either. Series champions Salzburg are once again leading the league, Rapid is currently only in fifth place.
Not enough for Demir: “I want to win everything, no matter against which opponent. We are Rapid and should win every game,” he clarifies. His specific goal: “First place, there is no two or three or four.”
New coach and brother on the way up
With the new coach Ferdinand Feldhofer, the attack to the top should succeed in the spring: “He’s a super coach, very likeable and talks a lot. He wants to help everyone. I want to help as much as I can.”
Maybe a second Demir will help in the combat team soon. Demir’s 17-year-old brother Furkan was allowed to play for Rapid II in the final tests. “We’re different types of players,” Demir says of his brother. “He’s a hacker and fighter, will go his own way.”
