Covid-19: Portugal with 46 more deaths and new maximum number of infections since the beginning of the pandemic

Portugal recorded today 46 deaths and 43.7 new infections by SARS-CoV-2, the number of contagions since the beginning of the pandemic, today the highest official data, which point to a further increase in hospital admissions.

The number of deaths recorded in the last 24 hours is the highest since February 26, 2021, when 58 deaths were reported.

A total of 1.55 people (plus 17) infected with the SARS-CoV2 virus are now hospitalized in the ward, of which 160 (minus 14) are in intensive care units9, according to data from the report on the epidemiological status of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS).

Since March 2nd of last year, when 1,997 patients were hospitalized, there were not so many in hospitals.

The 46 new deaths associated with covid-19 (24 hours in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo), in the North region (11) in the Center (6), in Madeira (3) in the Algarve (1) in the last 2 hours.

The highest number of new infections recorded in the North region (18,116) and in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (13,987).

Since Monday, the Centro region has registered another 6,339 new infections, the Autonomous Region of Madeira 2,117, the Alentejo (1,394), the Algarve (1,160) and the Azores (616).

19,380 people have died in Portugal with covid-19 and 1,950,620 infections have been confirmed with the virus that causes the disease, with more being at this moment (1,628 than active the day before).

In the last 24 hours, 42,055 people were reported to have been recovered, which now totals 1,598,454.

Compared to the previous day, health authorities have 23,793 more contacts under surveillance, totaling 324,954 people.

According to data from the DGS, 46 years old, between 7, 5, 60, were over 22 years old, 80 years old, 79 years old, 79 years old, between 7, 5, 5, 9 and 59 years old, between 5 and 59 years old. and 49 years and one between 30 and 39 years.

The highest number of deaths since the beginning of the pandemic is concentrated in the elderly over 80 years old (12,536), followed by the age groups between 70 and 79 years old (4,215) and between 60 and 69 years old (1,781). ) ).

Since the beginning of the pandemic, in March 2020, 765,436 cases and 8,174 deaths have been registered in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region.

In the North region, there were 717,836 infections and 5,883 deaths and the Central region now has an accumulated 260,089 infections and 3,414 deaths.

The Algarve has a total of 75,302 infections and 609 deaths and Alentejo has 64,824 infections and 1,103 deaths from covid-19.

The Autonomous Region of Madeira has had 48,298 infections and 142 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic and the Azores archipelago 18,835 cases and 55 deaths.

The regional authorities of the Azores and Madeira publish their data daily, which may not coincide with information published in the DGS bulletin.

Across the country, 10,198 of the people who died from Covid-19 were women and 9,182 were women.

As for infections, there are more confirmed cases among women (1,032,692) than among men (915,852), with 2,076 records without a gender being identified and under investigation, since this information is not provided automatically .
