A special forces unit from Canada has been in Ukraine for a week now
Against the background of the Russian military escalation in Ukraine, a detachment of fighters of the elite Canadian Special Operations Regiment CSOR arrived.
According to a Ukrinform correspondent, this was reported by the Government of Canada, citing its own sources. Global news.
“A Canadian Special Forces has been deployed in Ukraine amid rising tensions between NATO and Russia’s military alliances,” the statement said.
According to the source, by such steps the NATO state is trying to curb possible Russian aggression against Ukraine.
“The unit also received assistance in developing a plan to evacuate Canadian diplomats in the event of a full-scale appeal,” Global News reported.
It should be noted that Canadian special forces have been training the Ukrainian military for several years as part of the UNIFIER mission. “However, our source claims that this special contingent, which left for Ukraine on or about January 9, is not involved in the training,” the publication concludes.
Suggestions: UNIFIER has about 200 Canadian troops in Ukraine. The mandate of the current mission coincides in a few months. If it is not extended, the Canadian military will leave Ukraine.
