A robot helps the local workers with the care of the elderly in the nursing home in Prague 12
“The social care center of Prague 12 has been testing the robot in operation since November,” said town hall spokeswoman Eva Burianová. According to the director of HIGH TECH PARK, Petr Panýrek, there are ten of these robots in the Czech Republic.
According to a town hall representative, Robot Robin, who measures about 110 centimeters, is programmed to be able to respond to voice commands and communicate with seniors, among other things. Clients of the nursing home can have Robin read from the Internet or play board games with him. The robot also uses instruments to manage seniors to measure pressure, temperature, blood glucose and temperature. In the future, for example, he should be able to mediate contact with his family through a video call.
The use of the robot has been tested in the Czech Republic since 2019. So far, the robot’s services have been used by independent seniors and people with disabilities. Their number should increase to one hundred this year and they should help in social and medical facilities as well as in kindergartens.
According to information on the website, the Social Nursing Center in Prague 12 provides its services to people over the age of 65 and people with disabilities who are over the age of 60. The nursing home is located in Zárubova street in Prague 12. The capacity of the facility is about 40 people.
