Activists at StopHam Moldova recently conducted a less common social experiment, targeting drivers who park in parking spaces reserved for people with disabilities.
They went to the free public parking lot, inaugurated a few months ago on Ismail Street in the capital, near Stefan cel Mare Boulevard. There are two parking spaces for people with disabilities, which are painted blue on the entire surface and marked. However, from time to time there are also drivers who neglect their destination and park their cars there.
This time StopHam chose not to put their usual stickers on the windshields, but came to the door of the drivers who had parked in those places with a wheelchair, asking them if they needed help. Of course, it was a meeting to get them to report more of the moral part of the road violation they had committed. We do not comment on whether or not the solution chosen by StopHam is good, because disabilities can exist in many types, and because in the video there are some comments and approaches debatable even by activists, who have no place in the world. a place. such a civic action, but it is equally true that these places have a necessary purpose, and the people who really need it must be respected just as much.
The StopHam experiment had much of an expected effect, causing drivers to realize they had made a mistake and left the parking lot. But there were exceptions, with drivers behaving incomprehensibly. You can see everything in the video below, which is also in Russian, but you can include subtitles with automated translations if you need to. Then write down what you think about this StopHam initiative, whether it’s good or not.
