In the late afternoon of yesterday, Sunday 16 January, around 7 pm a Jeep Renegade traveled some streets in Rome are in the wrong direction to then flee to Piazza Bologna and crash into a building. The carabinieri of the station in via Vittorio Veneto who were on patrol spotted them along via Campania and, once they tried to stop them without success, they started chasing them along the streets of the capital. After realizing the chase, the two young men, an initiated boy and a girl began to go to try to escape and continued to rule the wrong way on some of the roads leading towards piazza Bologna: first they traveled along corso Italia and then they crossed a part of via Nomentana. The race ended in via Catanzaro where, after having punctured the front tire, the SUV, registered to a car rental company, lost control, collided with the sidewalk at number 15 and, later, crashed into a building.
The crash against the building in via Catanzaro
Following the impact with the building in via Catanzaro, the wall was slightly damaged, while the SUV was severely damaged: the blow was so strong that it triggered the alarm in the apartments on the first two floors of the building. At the end of theChase, after having fled crashing into the wall, the boy who was on board and who has the SUV, managed to escape on foot in the neighboring streets before the arrival of the carabinieri, while the girl who was at his side had to escape, but without success: she was identified, reported for damage and resistance to a public official and, finally, entrusted again to a parent. It is, in fact, a teenager of about 15 years born in Rome and living in the Roma camp in via di Salone, in the Settecamini area, which is located east of Rome. Research is ongoing to define and find the driver of the car and to understand whether the SUV, now impounded, has been stolen or not.
