the CGT railway workers opens a “hiring office” in front of the Matabiau station
“The SNCF opens many positions for recruitment, but it is difficult to cover them”, explains the CGT union of railway workers in Toulouse. Of Many positions are available in the region, particularly in Haute-Garonne. Train driver, executive assistant, rail switchman… Although there is no lack of supply, the railway company is struggling to find volunteers.
The members of the CGT Cheminots Toulouse have thus decided to open a “hiring office”, this Monday, January 17 on the forecourt of the Gare Matabiau. Its objective is clear: “We want to help jobless people, young people, students or anyone concerned by our sector to apply for the SNCF.”
Discovering railway jobs
Activists from CGT Cheminots Toulouse took over Toulouse station from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m., this Monday, January 17, to answer questions young people, students and employees undergoing professional retraining. The collective invited Toulouse residents to bring a CV and a cover letter to speed up the hiring procedure. The railway workers present also took care of helping the students to write their cover letter.
In total, 15 positions are available, ground handling agent to low voltage electrician via occupational physician.
This is not the first time that the CGT Cheminot has organized this type of event, already in 2019, a similar operation had been organized in Toulouse. More recently, last September, at Carcassonne, the CGT also organized a similar event.
