Stade Lavallois played big as part of this 18th day of National. In a staggered match, the Tango received Annecy, 2nd in the championship with only two defeats to their credit. From the start of the match, the tension is palpable, the electric atmosphere between the two teams. After half an hour without many chances, a first fact of play intervenes. Holding midfielder Ahmed Kachi is sent off for a nasty foul on the striker Geoffray Durbant. The two teams return to the locker room back to back.
Three red cards
At eleven against ten, Stade Lavallois finds the opening shortly before the hour mark thanks to its midfield, Julien Maggiotti. On a cross from Durbant, the Bastiais sends a missile into the back of the net (1-0). A few minutes later, another expulsion from Annecy. Jonathan Ruque is penalized with a second yellow card for a tackle too strong. In double numerical superiority, Stade Lavallois hesitates between keeping the advantage and scoring the second goal. The expulsion of Laval residents Bryan Goncalves (71′) further reduces the room for maneuver against one of the best teams in the championship. Finally, the Tango resist and impose themselves after a match of average quality. but the essential is elsewhere.
Thanks to this eleventh success of the season, Stade Lavallois climbs onto the National podium for the first time this season. Laval finds itself tied with its evening opponent, Annecy (35 points) before moving to Villefranche this Friday for a second big test in the same week.
The Laval coach, Olivier Frapolli, happy after this fourth consecutive success: “it’s not the most spectacular match but we join Annecy in the standings“.
