Currently on loan from Bayern Munich to AS Monaco, German goalkeeper Alexander Nubel sees his future in limbo due to Manuel Neuer. Indeed, Nubel would count on a non-extension of the holder at Bayern to possibly return to the Bavarian club, if necessary he would have to opt for a decision other than a return to Bavaria.
According to a new report from Sky Sports Germany, it looks like Manuel Neuer is close to signing a contract extension at Bayern Munich. His current contract at the club is due to expire in June 2023, but it looks like he will get his second contract extension in the space of two years, with his last extension dating back to spring 2020.
It also complicates matters for Alexander Nubel, who is currently on loan from Bayern Munich to AS Monaco in Ligue 1. His agent had been pushing for the loan to materialize as he had no chance at Bayern as a replacing Neuer, while there was a clause in his contract, when he was signed from Schalke, which stipulated that he would play at least ten games in the season. Now, for Nubel, its future is a little clearer; if Neuer extended, he will have to find a new club. “If Manuel Neuer extends – and according to our information, he will, it is imminent, maybe even another three years – then Nübel will leave FC Bayern except in the summer,” reports Behrenbeck.
