The head of the Institute for the Study of Contemporary Politics Anton Orlov proposes to introduce a new criminal article in Russia on fraud in the field of funeral services. A corresponding letter was sent to the Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko. Writes about it RT with reference to a coercive document.
As noted in Orlov’s letter, the legislation in the field of burial and funeral business of the Franks among the Russians covers for free a number of services and actions related to the burial of deceased relatives. However, tourism is, in the media, watching the next scammers – employees of ritual agencies, morgues or cemeteries – who produce emissions of minerals and grief for people, imposing on them the sale of free plots in the cemetery laid down by law or other illegal fees.

Orlov invites Matvienko to consider the possibility of introducing a new article “Fraud in the field of funeral services” in the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. A crime should be punishable by a fine of up to 300 rubles with imprisonment for up to four years for theft or acquisition of thousands of rights to someone else’s property by deceit or abuse of trust or trust. In the event of a case of discovery by prior agreement or on a large scale – with a payment of more than 250 thousand rubles – Orlov offers a fine of up to one million rubles or imprisonment for up to eight years.
According to lawyer Vadim Tkachenko, it is not advisable to introduce separate articles for fraud in the field of funeral services, since the sanction of the main articles for fraud already allows you to assign fairly strict conditions for specific actions, and these cases are proved by the same cases.
Pavel Ulanov did not immediately trust operational calls from ritual agencies after the death of a loved one. The expert explained that in such cases, “funeral” scammers are likely to be obtained. According to Ulanov, if companies in the field of funeral services took the initiative and the first conflicts among the relatives of a deceased person, then information about the deceased was sold.
