His memories in Caen, the departure to Belgium: Loup Hervieu confides
A senior reserve team player who appeared on the pitch for a few minutes in Ligue 2, Loup Hervieu left Stade Malherbe this winter. Head to Belgian D3 and Royal FC Mandel United for the 21-year-old Norman. To pay Interior Malherbe, he confides in his departure and what he retains from his experience in Caen.
His early career in Caen
“I only remember positive things from my years at Stade Malherbe. I arrived at the national U17s. We had a good season. Then, I had two great seasons with the national U19s. We made two podiums in two years. With the reserve team then, on a National 3 champion. These are only beautiful memories, beautiful matches and beautiful finished experiences acquired. »
His best memories
“My first professional game specifically. When I come into play against Ajaccio (2nd day of Ligue 2 during the 2020-21 season, editor’s note). I only play added time, but it’s a great memory. We came away with the victory. It’s a real pride to return to Ornano, which is my stadium. I’m from the region, from Granville. D’Ornano is sacred to all Normans. These beginnings in pro were not an end for me, it is rather the beginning of something. Another very strong moment, it is mandatory to sign my elite contract (in 2019, an intern and three years pro, editor’s note). The reward of good working seasons. It was a real pride. »
Maintaining Ligue 2 against Clermont
“An incredible evening. An evening of maintenance. We say to ourselves that we are playing for the survival of the club. I learn that I hold the position of lateral law. Even if I don’t really know this position, I am determined to succeed in the mission. Unfortunately, I take red. In your head, you ask yourself 10,000 questions. You tell yourself that if you go down, it’s your fault. Arrival at the Benjamin Jeannot entrance. He delivers us. And there, it’s sick emotions. Frankly, it’s one of my best football memories. A positive outcome. »
Departure to Belgium
“This departure is a good thing to gain experience abroad. I want to get out of my comfort zone. The title I’m going into is pretty watched there. I think I can progress at a good level, be confronted with new things on the pitch. I also arrive in a club where there is a coach who will make me play and give me confidence. I am in a good project for the future. At Mandel United, I find Thomas Chesnel with whom I was at the Malherbe training center. It’s great that he is also there. »
The benevolence of Caen supporters
“Thank you to the fans for always supporting me. I didn’t play a lot, but always had encouragement, good feedback, benevolence. It has always warmed my heart, I wish them a good end of the season! »
