Haute-Garonne: drunk and drugged at the wheel, he sows panic in a small town near Toulouse
In Granada, a young man, without a license, alcoholic and drugged, sowed terror in the city center repeatedly failing to mow down pedestrians. He was finally intercepted by the gendarmes and will be tried on January 18.
His delirious outfit begins in the early morning this Saturday, January 15. This 18-year-old almost comes to blows with another motorist with whom he almost collided in the streets of Granada. Shortly before noon, still just as excited, in an advanced state of intoxication and on drugs, he took the wheel again. It’s market day downtown. It’s teeming with people.
The young man at the wheel of a city car “borrowed” from an acquaintance for several days, rushes at breakneck speed in the crossings of the town. He fails several times to mow down passers-by. Witnesses immediately alerted the gendarmerie. Quickly, the brigade agents of Grenade joined by those of Beauzelle smoke in chase the driver who refuses to stop. He multiplies the speeding, stops grid, almost hits other vehicles, and goes so far as to drive in the wrong direction in order to avoid the police.
Hidden by a friend
The individual ends up abandoning the vehicle in a parking lot on rue Alsace-Lorraine and runs away. The soldiers lose track of him for a moment. They are warned by residents that the wanted individual has taken refuge in a building on rue René-Teisseire. The gendarmes rush on the spot and go around the floors ringing at the entrance doors of the residents. Among them, a young woman, she claims to be alone in the apartment. The agents ask to verify. In reality, he is close to a young man. On entering the accommodation, the soldiers came face to face with him. Furious, he insults them and struggles with all his might when he is arrested. He was immediately taken into custody. He will be brought this January 17, in the afternoon, before the public prosecutor and be judged in immediate comparison on the 18 for all the offenses committed: endangering others, refusal to comply, conduct without a license and under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
