Electricity – Hungary is on its own two feet
During a visit to the Paks nuclear facility, the head of the ministry noted that “one of the safest and most efficient power plants in the world operates here”, which guarantees the continuity of electricity supply and represents a huge competitive advantage for the economy.
“The recent period has shown that crises in the field of energy supply can occur at any time. In such cases, the security of countries that are largely self-sufficient in energy,” he pointed out.
In connection with this, he reported that currently about half of the electricity generated in Hungary is connected to the Paks nuclear power plant.
Péter Szijjártó stated that nuclear power plants are a safe, clean and cheap form of energy production.
He then said that is why the government has decided to build two more reactors capable of 2,400 megawatts.
He underlined that with this and solar energy investments, Hungary will become fully self-sufficient in electricity.
“So the investments in Paks have paid off and will pay off for Hungary,” he emphasized.
