Digital gala in Zurich: Lewandowski and Haaland elected to the FIFA world team
Robert Lewandowski from FC Bayern and Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland have made the leap into the world eleven of the world football association FIFA.
The Bundesliga duo forms together Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo the attack in the selection that, according to the players’ union Fifpro, was chosen by almost 19,000 professionals. German players were not in the world team that was chosen at a digital gala in Zurich.
In goal, the Italian European champion Gianluigi Donnarumma from Paris Saint-Germain was given preference over national goalkeeper Manuel Neuer. The defense is made up of ex-Munich player David Alaba, European champion Leonardo Bonucci and Ruben Dias. In midfield, former Bundesliga professional Kevin De Bruyne and the two Champions League winners Jorginho and N’Golo Kanté from Chelsea FC received the most votes. The world eleven is jointly by FIFA and Fifpro excellent.
Neither German national players nor players from the Bundesliga were elected to the women’s World XI. Among them are the Americans Carli Lloyd and Alex Morgan, the Brazilian Marta and the French top defender Wendie Renard.
