Azbej Tristan: Hungary will not give up on the Syrian people (Video!)
It is true that Syria seems to have left the world after the destruction of the war, but Hungary does not give up on the Syrian people and especially the Christians living in the cradle of Christianity – this is what our portal Azbej Tristan, who recently returned from his unofficial trip to Syria, spoke about. The Secretary of State for General Christians said he had met with teenagers who had never attended school because of years of warfare and believed the general misery in the country could trigger another wave of migration.
Azbej Tristan, who recently joined Syria, did not pay an official visit to the Maltese Charity Mission. The head of the state secretariat responsible for helping persecuted Christians and coordinating the Hungary Helps program shared the experience of his trip with our portal. As he said in his foreword, it is sad to see that the Syrian people are already experiencing some certainty that major clashes are now confined to one or two regions. He did so, society is only now recovering from the destruction of the war, and they have not really been able to measure the actual damage, that is, the tragedies and difficulties behind the harsh statistics. The state explained that only a large population of half a million civilian victims and half of the 23 million had to leave their homeland, a significant portion of whom still live as internal refugees to this day. Many of the migrants did not stop at the first safe country, but migrated to Europe, overcoming false promises by Western politicians and various NGOs supporting migration. Azbej Tristan featured,
local church leaders said it was not primarily families in trouble that went away, but young, vibrant people who would be needed at home to rebuild.
As he noted, the economy is in ruins, causing astonishing misery in Syria, 80 percent of society is on the brink of starvation, and this hopelessness is only exacerbating the propensity to emigrate. He said after ten years of civil war in Syria, it has worn out the education system so much that there are teenage children who have not been to school in their lifetime.
Hungarian help has tangible results
Turning to the Christian communities, the Secretary of State spoke of a double whip on them, as in addition to the livelihood difficulties, there is also religious persecution, and as a result, their number has halved from 2.3 million by the end of the war. He added that Christian communities in distress cannot count on internal or external support, it is only the churches from which they can hope for some help. The secretary of state said that Christian churches should take over the role of the state by maintaining orphanages, nursing homes, schools, hospitals. According to Azbej Tristan, a huge psychological plus has appeared about the fact that Hungary and the Hungarian people are trying to help create the basic conditions for the future through the Hungary Helps program. The Secretary of State emphasized that they had visited the bombed-out Homs, where hundreds of homes had been rebuilt with the support of the Hungarian Maltese Charity Service, to which the refugee families had returned, a tangible result of Hungarian assistance. According to Azbej Tristan, Syria seems to have left the world alone, so Hungary has a moral obligation not to let go of the Syrian people, especially the hands of Syrian Christians. As he noted, this is the country in which the first Christian congregations were formed, so during his present visit he was able to reach the shrine where Saul was traditionally converted. The Secretary of State emphasized that it is also in the interest of the Hungarian people to help Syria, as if the country disintegrates, it will start another wave of migration.
