A statue of Zoltán Kocsis can be erected in Debrecen
Debrecen – The great pianist, conductor and former chief music director of the National Philharmonic Orchestra, who died in 2016, can receive a full-length bronze statue at the Faculty of Music of the University of Debrecen.
Krisztián, the son of Zoltán Kocsis, recently reported on Facebook that he could not cope alone with the processing of his father’s vast legacy. Not long after, however, in another post, he shared a good news with his followers:
“Six people applied after the post came out, although I didn’t even ask for help. I just wanted to write that I was really starting to work now. It seems that it is not only when they hear negative news that people are moved. The news of the failure of the memorial house last hit such waves. ” – written by.
In connection with the care of the estate, the Index asked the government whether they were willing to embrace the case of Zoltán Kocsis again, so that the artist’s legacy would have a worthy place in Hungarian culture – read in their article.
At their request, the Press Office of the Prime Minister sent the following reply:
“The government pays tribute to the memory of Zoltán Kocsis. We are committed to preserving and caring for the intellectual legacy of Zoltán Kocsis, which is why we support the Kocsis-Hauser Foundation established by Zoltán Kocsis.
In addition, we are indirectly the source of the two most important intellectual workshops of Zoltán Kocsis, the Hungarian Classical Music Day founded by the Liszt Ferenc University of Music and the National Philharmonic, which takes place every year on the birthday of Zoltán Kocsis on May 30.
According to the plans, we will exhibit the full-length bronze statue of Zoltán Kocsis at the Faculty of Music of the University of Debrecen, which will be made by sculptor István Buda with the participation of MANK Hungarian Creative Arts Public Benefit Nonprofit Ltd. The government supports this with HUF 25 million.
In addition, we will contribute HUF 10 million to the construction of the tomb of Zoltán Kocsis in the Farkasréti Cemetery. ”
