A fire broke out in a residential building in the Badenstedt district of Hanover on Sunday morning. The fire brigade rescued five residents of the house, whose escape route was cut off.
Residents had alerted the emergency services on Sunday morning because of heavy smoke in an apartment building, as a spokesman for the fire brigade said. When the firefighters arrived, the entire stairwell was already thick with smoke, so that the escape route for the residents was cut off. A 32-year-old mother with two small children, ages two and ten, stood by the window of an apartment and called for help.
Large-scale deployment of rescue workers
The fire brigade extinguished the residents and extinguished the room fire. According to the police, the mother, the two children, a 49-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman were taken to hospitals. According to initial estimates, the damage is around 80,000 euros. The fire brigade and the rescue service of the state capital Hanover were on site with a total of 22 vehicles and 52 emergency services. The cause of the fire was initially unclear, but the police have started investigations.
