Lions beat FC Vizela | Sporting Clube de Portugal official website
With goals from Pedro Gonçalves and Daniel Bragança
This Sunday, Sporting Clube de Portugal’s main football team beat FC Vizela by 0-2 in the game of the 18th round of the Liga Portugal, played in Vizela.
For this match, days after donating in Paços de Ferreira against Leça FC for the Portuguese Cup, cincoúben Amorim made changes, initially betting on Antonio Adán, Gonçalo Inácio, Sebastián Coates, Matheus Reis, Ricardo Esgaio, João Palhinha, Daniel Bragança, Nuno Santos, Pedro Gonçalves, Paulinho and Pablo Sarabia.
FC Vizela started the game well and was the first team in danger, but Antonio Adán on goal scored the goal to Cann. Sporting CP then responded with a header by Paulinho, which went over, while the offside was signaled. Still, that moment marked the growth of the Lions in the match.
From there, Sporting CP gave even more, with the team from Alvalade installing themselves next to the home team’s area and creating goalscoring opportunities. Nuno Santos saw Pedro Silva leave the posts and hold a two-stroke cross and then it was Daniel Bragança, in Leonina, who shot over.
At 28 minutes, finally, the first goal of the match and for Sporting CP. Bad pass from a FC Vizela player, with Paulinho recovering the ball close to the area and giving it to Pedro Gonçalves who, after combining with Pablo Sarabia, shot with class to the back of the goal.
The 0-2 came 15 minutes later, after Pedro Silva had denied Paulinho the goal. Green and white ball on the right with Nuno Santos, close to the penalty kick mark, delaying towards the edge of the area, where Daniel Bragança appeared to shoot for Leon’s second goal.
At the beginning of the second half, the Lions continued to dominate the match and Pedro Gonçalves had the 0-3 on the feet, in the 51st minute, but the ex-Leão Pedro Silva stretched out to deny the green and white winger’s second goal. FC Vizela then responded with a shot by Mendez, which went over Antonio Adán’s goal.
Shortly after, Pedro Gonçalves tried, again, the goal, this time the shot went wide and followed by Ricardo Esgaio who, after receiving a cross from Nuno Santos, hit the ball badly and wasted the 0-3.
At 73 minutes, Rúben Amor started to change the team, betting on Gonçalo Esteves and Manuel Ugar, leaving Ricardo Esgaio Palhinha. Two later, following a corner and after some confusion in the game area, Inácio still put the ball inside FC Vizela’s goal, but was in an offside position.
Sporting CP is still looking for the third goal, with Bruno Tabata replacing Pedro Gonçalves, but the home team was also reduced, creating opportunities for that. Even so, who was close to scoring was Sporting CP, in a still mate by Pablo Sarabia than Pedro closer to Silva.
In the 90th minute, there was confusion next to Sporting CP’s substitute bench, with Fábio Veríssimo distributing yellow cards – one of them to Nuno Santos -, Tiago Tomás and Matheus Nunes also came on for the places of Pablo Sarabia and Daniel Bragança.
Three more than fair points for the National Champions, who will play again next Saturday against SC Braga, returning home, which will be the first game of 2022 at Estádio José Alvalade.
