ICE Hockey League: Graz99ers ends EC Salzburg winning streak
After nine wins in a row, EC Red Bull Salzburg loses another game in the ICE Hockey League. Against the Graz99ers there is a 2:3 defeat after overtime. Michael Boivin scored the decisive goal for Graz.
The Red Bulls, who lead the league confidently, have to do without a few regular players, including Thomas Raffl, Ali Wukovits and Ty Loney. Nevertheless, Matt McIlvane’s team takes the lead with an early double strike. Hit Baltram (2nd) and Harnisch (6th). However, the 99ers got stronger as the game progressed and equalized in the middle third through Boivin (30′, PP) and Blood (32′).
After no goals were scored in the final third, it was Boivin again in overtime who ended Salzburg’s winning streak after 55 seconds. The home side can at least console themselves with a point and thus get at least one point in the 17th game in a row. The 99ers are celebrating a certain victory in the battle for the playoffs. The second game planned for Sunday between Fehervar and Bozen had to be postponed due to the corona. The games KAC – VSV and Pustertal – Znojmo were already canceled during the week.
