Green players benefit most from expensive electricity. However, Slovakia is lagging behind in production
In the first place, greenhouse gas emissions generated by the economic activities of the Union countries amounted to 3.5 billion tonnes of CO2. Compared to 2019, this is a decrease of nine percent, compared to 2008 by 24 percent.
This is shown by the latest Eurostat data. At the same time, the 27 agreed to try to eliminate harmful substances by 55 percent by 2030 compared to three decades ago.
Slovakia’s combat program is called the Integrated National Climate and Energy Plan. He quantifies that our country will be on its own “greenery” billion euros a year, focusing in particular on the development of renewable energy sources.
However, they have been growing in our country at a cautious pace in recent years. HN therefore looked in detail at last year’s data to see if there was a change.
Slight year-on-year increase
According to the information provided by Slovenská elektrizačná a prenosová sústava, electricity production in our country has been declining slightly for a long time. While 2,430 gigawatt-hours of energy were produced from renewable sources in 2016, this was four percent less.
As the company only finalizes data for last year in March, it provides HN with preliminary figures for the first 11 months. And the surprise passed. We are seeing a year-on-year increase in November – albeit smaller.
