Azmoun, Lyon takes a huge wind from Zenit
In search of reinforcements this winter, OL have reinforced Sardar Azmoun as a priority. But Zenit is on track to upset Lyon.
OL towards new disillusionment in the Sardar Azmoun case
Deprived of its African attackers, Olympique Lyonnais signed its first victory of the year this Sunday. A penalty from Moussa Dembélé, author of his 50th but with OL, allowed Peter Bosz’s men to dominate ESTAC Troyes. With Dembélé as the only real center forward, the Rhone club hopes to strengthen this winter. Algerian Islam Slimani, Cameroonian Karl Toko Ekambi and Zimbabwean Tino Kadewere currently take part in the CAN. In their absence, Lyon want to strengthen with at least one attacking reinforcement. Already tracked last summer after the departure of Memphis Depay, Sardar Azmoun is again courted by Lyon this winter. But as during the last transfer window, Zenit Saint-Petersburg does not intend to give up its striker, yet at the end of the contract, in winter.
Zenit closes the door again for Sardar Azmoun
Russian media Sports.ru assures this Sunday that the president of Zenit does not intend to proceed with the sale of Sardar Azmoun. Quoting the Saint-Petersburg leader, the local source assures “99%” that the 27-year-old striker will end the season with the leader of the Russian championship. A new disillusion in sight for Olympique Lyonnais. OL have already reached a verbal agreement with the Iranian international (60 caps/39 goals). An offer of 4 million euros for the transfer of Azmoun to Lyon was also mentioned.
Barring a new turnaround, Zenit Saint Petersburg should not give up their star scorer to the Rhone club. The Russian formation is therefore exposed to letting its striker go for free next summer. It remains to be seen whether Les Gones will wait for the next market to complete this old file.
