AS Monaco shines, Ben Yedder blazes against Clermont
At the end of an ultra-dominated game from start to finish by the Red and Whites, Philippe Clément obtained his first victory on the bench of the Club de la Principalité, thanks in particular to a double from Wissam Ben Yedder (4-0).
Here it is the first of coach Clément! After one of the best performances of the season at the Stade Louis-II, AS Monaco won easily against Clermont Foot (4-0), for the first of the year in the Principality. In order to achieve a first success in the league in 2022, which is moreover under the orders of Philippe Clément, the new coach of the Red and Whites decides to test a hybrid system in 4-4-2 flat, a sort of 3-4-1 -2 in possession of the ball.
An outrageous domination… but not rewarded
With a change at the heart of the game, namely the tenure of Jean Lucas alongside Aurélien Tchouameni, Caio Henrique renewed as playmaker and an attacking duo Diop-Volland. Beginning of the meeting canon for the teammates of Sofiane Diop, who believes to obtain a penalty from the 2nd minute of play, on a fault of Jodel Dossou. Kevin Volland is ready to execute, when Mr. Stinat cancels the sentence, after consulting the VAR. It is then Gelson Martins who stands out by offering himself a face-to-face with Ouparine Djoco, the Clermont goalkeeper, who wins the duel in the 16 meters (16th).
15’⏱@GelsonMartins_ was not far from finding the way to the nets 🤯 The Clermont goalkeeper makes a reflex stop.

The CF63 responds through Salis Abdul Samed, who sees his provisional captured by Alexander Nübel (18th). The rhythm of the match fell slightly, until this opportunity from Sofiane Diop, on a deep pass from Kevin Volland. The international hopeful managed to straighten the ball, pushed back for a corner by the Auvergne goalkeeper (29th). A thrill then runs through the stands of the Stade Louis-II, on this volley from Jean Lucas, served by the architect Aurélien Tchouameni, in recovery and in the center (38th). It’s next to.
And there was light !
It was Caio Henrique’s turn, still looking for his first goal with AS Monaco, to try his hand at the left, at the entrance to the opposing area. It is captured by Djoco (39th). The Brazilian then finds Kevin Volland with a header from a free kick, unfortunately it misses (41st). No more success on this cross from Ismail Jakobs, cut off from the head by the German striker. It is finally in the additional time of the first period that Sofiane Diop releases his partners.
Him again 🤤

On a superb aerial opening from Jean Lucas, the number 37 finished closely and scored his 6th but in Ligue 1 this season (1-0, 45th + 2). A perfect scenario, before half-time which sees Wissam Ben Yedder return to the lawn in place of Ismail Jakobs, to reform the Yedderland duo. Jean Lucas returns with the same offensive intentions, and offers himself a shooting angle, which is finally repelled by Djoco (53rd). On the corner that follows, Kevin Volland stumbles again on the last rampart of Clermont.
Captain’ Wiss knocks in!
But the latter can do nothing in front of the Monegasque captain, who victoriously takes over a millimeter cross from Caio Henrique (2-0, 55th). The break is done! By the way, Wiss ‘offers his 11th but in the elite this season. But the tricolor international (16 caps, 2 goals) does not stop there. It only takes him seven minutes to slam a double, on his favorite exercise, a penalty he himself (3-0, 62nd). The meeting is folded, and the men of Philippe Clément take place.
Goaal! Goaal!
A double in 10 minutes.
Great Sir, @WissBenYedder 👊🇲🇨

Caio celebrates his first, the Academy in the spotlight
The opportunity for the Flemish technician to give playing time to two children from the Academy, Chrislain Matsima and Maghes Akliouche. But especially for Caio Henrique, sparkling in this second period, to score his first but under the colors of AS Monaco and in Ligue 1… from the right (4-0, 84th)! A small event, for the one who delivered his eighth Decision pass of the season a little earlier (in all competitions).
The Red and Whites thus offer themselves a superb first success in 2022 in Ligue 1, with Philippe Clément at the helm. A great operation, before the trip to Montpellier, next Sunday (5:05 p.m.). DAGHE MUNEGU!! 🇲🇨
