Toulouse: the volunteers of the “Popular Primary” presented the seven left-wing candidates in the running
This Saturday in Toulouse as in many cities in France, the volunteers of the “Popular Primary” revealed the seven candidates of the left who will be submitted to the vote of the voters. The objective is to bring out a left-wing presidential candidate.
It is a day marked by the formalization of Christiane Taubira’s candidacy for the presidential election.
A few hours after this announcement, supporters of the citizen movement “La Primaire populaire” born in February 2021 also made people talk about them. This Saturday, Place Arnaud Bernard, in Toulouse as in forty cities in France, the supporters of this citizens’ movement which has given itself the mission of “bringing the left together” by designating via a vote a single candidate from the left to the presidential, gathered. They were about fifty in Toulouse to find out who were the seven finalists.
And after a quick round of questions on the functioning of the movement, the supporters of the “Popular Primary” revealed the seven personalities acclaimed by the voters by revealing signs with the faces of the latter. They are: Anne Agueb-Porterie, Anne Hidalgo, Yannick Jadot, Pierre Larrouturou, Charlotte Marchandise, Jean-Luc Mélenchon and finally Christiane Taubira.
Vote via “Majority Judgment”
From now on, these citizens who have lost interest “as disappointed with politics” and “from movements like the March for the climate” have the dates from January 27 to 30 in mind. It is on this slot that people, 120,000 of whom have already confirmed their intentions to participate, will vote among these seven personalities via “majority judgment”. “This is a voting method which is based on the evaluation of each of the candidacies presented by attributing the mention of their choice ranging from excellent, to insufficient or to reject”, details Thomas Garcia, volunteer of the popular Primary . The person who emerges “victorious” from this vote will therefore be supported by the movement in the presidential race. Among the main candidates, only Christiane Taubira is ready to bow to the result of this unprecedented ballot, but the other names will also be put to the vote, with or without their agreement.
