South of Toulouse, a violent fire destroyed a house and workshops
A violent fire broke out on Friday in the town of Franquevielle, near Montréjeau in the south of Haute-Garonne. More than 30 firefighters responded. The damage is considerable.
The origin of the fire remains undetermined at this time but the damage is particularly significant at a place called “Proupiary”, in the town of Franqueville, north of Montréjeau in Comminges. The firefighters were alerted around 1:30 p.m. Friday following the start of a fire in the craft workshops installed next to the house. The flames ravaged the workshops but also damage in the house installed next door.
Firefighters from the Montréjeau, Saint-Gaudens, Boulogne-sur-Gesse and Saint-Martory rescue centers were hired to fight the flames under the orders of Lieutenant Pélissier, the Siant-Gaudens rescue center and Captain Pierre Sartori de Montrejeau. Thirty-four firefighters fought the flames with significant material resources, including a large ladder.
The gendarmerie opened an investigation to determine the origin of the fire.
No casualties to report but a lot of damage. The mayor of Franquevielle, Virginie Nicolas is on site to comfort the victims and set up solidarity – a kitty has been generated, contact 06 38 45 42 22. The victims will have to be relocated.
