Men’s Handball Championship: World Champions Danes Won Confidently at Phoenix Arena

The world champion Denmark won 34-23 against Slovenia in the second round of the group stage of the Hungarian-Slovakian men’s handball championship in Debrecen on Saturday.
After five minutes, the Danes led 3-1, then equalized the Slovenes in a human disadvantage, stabilizing the defense, attacking patiently, so they already had the advantage in the 16th minute (8-7). In a draw, Slovenian federal captain Ljubomir Vranjes asked for it, but the world champion benefited and took action again with two. After his opponent equalized again, Danish captain Nikolaj Jakobsen also asked, after which his team still defended, became clueless in the attack on the Slovenians, who finished fourth in the previous continental tournament, and was spoiled, so they were 16-14 behind after the first half.
The momentum did not break the momentum of the Scandinavians either, they are also great at the beginning of the second act, they have been tactically attacked under the guidance of Mikkel Hansen, and Niklas Landin is getting better and better (22-15). The match ended earlier than expected – to which Landin contributed with three penalty passes – and Slovenia did not continue to reduce the corpse’s disadvantage, and the Danes even closed the match with a 6-1 series. With his confident success, Denmark secured his progress to the semi-final group in Budapest.
Telekom Veszprém’s Danish team captain Rasmus Lauge Schmidt closed with three goals. Among the Slovenian legionnaires in Hungary, Borut Mackovsek from Szeged, six from Gasper Marguc from Veszprém and two from his clubmate Blaz Blagotinsek.

In the group of Hungarians first the two losers of the opening round, the Hungarian and the Portuguese national team, will play in front of the MVM Dome audience in Budapest (6 pm), followed by the Iceland-Netherlands clash (8.30 pm).
On Tuesday, the group round will end with matches between Iceland-Hungary and Portugal-Netherlands.
