Where in Prague for a trip in winter? Tips for places to enjoy in any weather
Walk through the Old Town
You can admire the beauty and breathe the history of the Old Town in any weather. In addition, in the winter after dark, the lit lamps add a special charm to the lovely alleys and buildings, not only at Christmas time. For example, walk from the Lesser Town to Petřín or to Prague Castle up the castle steps, or head over Charles Bridge over the river to the Old Town Square and the surrounding narrow cobbled streets.
You can also feed the swans while walking along the waterfront. Instead of profaned pastries that are harmful to them, choose vegetables, cuttings and skins.
A walk in nature
Prague is not just a historical center and a busy street. The capital also offers nature to which you can go in winter. Head to the Doubravka lookout tower in the Čihalda forest park in Kyje or walk along the Celtic Trail in the Točná part of Prague, where you will also find information about the ancient inhabitants of this area.
You can walk or run, for example, in Letenské sady with a view of Prague, the Klánovice, Modřanská rokle, Hostivař or Draháň – Troja nature parks, as well as in Stromovka or Kunratický les. And if you want a longer walk, try to go to one or all poles of Prague – the northernmost, southernmost, easternmost and westernmost points of the metropolis.
Zoo and botanical garden
Spending a day at the zoo is almost a sure bet for a family trip with children, even in winter. In addition to the world-famous zoo in Troja, there are many other, smaller zoos and zoos in Prague that will delight younger and older visitors. Try Sea World Zoo, Crocodile Zoo or choose from several zoos, such as Mala Chuchla.
The Prague Botanical Garden then attracts to an outdoor exhibition with almost 20,000 species of plants, which will enchant you in every season. The Fata Morgana tropical greenhouse offers exoticism.
Planetarium
The Prague Planetarium is a great choice for the whole family to go to, after any weather. Here you can not only observe the stars and planets, but also watch a film projected on the dome of a building with a diameter of 23.5 meters, which is the largest projection area in the Czech Republic and one of the largest in the world. The planetarium also organizes a rich accompanying program. Among other things, it offers a unique technology of spatial display of space or projection with 8K resolution.
Theatre
With a nice theatrical performance, you won’t step aside. Younger spectators will be thrilled by the children’s performance, whether puppet or fiction. Older people will appreciate the drama and comedy of one of Prague’s famous theaters – the National or Vinohrady Theater, the Broadway or Karlín Music Theater, the Archa Theater, Semafor, ABC, the Dejvické Theater, the Na Zábradlí Theater, Na Fidlovačce and many others.
Kingdom of railways for young and old
For children, there is an extensive exhibition of the Kingdom of Railways in Smíchov, where not only children will be able to enjoy the whole day. The kingdom offers over 600 square meters of tracks with dozens of trains, cars and models of stations or castles. It will also entertain simulators from real vehicles with a projection, a motorway and many others.
Museums and exhibitions
You can avoid the dry weather in several Prague museums and exhibitions. Renovated National Museum offers not only a lot of long-term exhibitions and new exhibitions, but also a breathtaking view of the whole of Prague from the dome area. Karel Zeman Museum lovers of the lifelong work of this famous film will appreciate their permanent exhibition. Expositions from the fields of architecture, astronomy, transport, mining and metallurgy, chemistry and many more offers National Technical Museum.

You can then experience a little more adrenaline Invisible exhibition, where you can experience for yourself what it is like to know in your surroundings without sight, only by hearing and touch.
Indoor water parks
If you do not feel for a longer walk in dry weather, but still want to spend the day actively, the metropolis offers use for young and old also through water parks and swimming pools. Of the larger ones, you can visit Aquapalace Prague in Čestlice and Aquacentrum Šutka, but lovers of swimming and water fun will certainly be satisfied by Aquadream Barrandov, Letňany Lagoon or Eleven Water World.
Snow fun
If you are lucky and Prague is covered with a decent amount of snow, you can also get out of the capital. You can go to Petřín on bobsleighs or sledges (but be careful, only in the marked zones). It is probably unfortunate for us to skate on the frozen Vltava, but Prague offers many artificial ice rinks, where you can also rent skates.
