Ukraine has successfully launched a spacecraft into Earth orbit
On January 13, at 5:26 pm Kyiv time, the Ukrainian spacecraft Sich-2-1 (Sich-2-30) was successfully launched by a Falcon 9 launch vehicle as part of the Transporter 3 mission with the SLC-40 launch complex based on the Air Force. USA at Miss Canaveral.
The satellite was separated from the rocket at 18:48. The ground information complex of the Center for Reception and Processing of Special Information and Navigation Field Control (Dunaiv, Khmelnytsky region) received feedback at the appointed time – this information is from the satellite “Sich-2-1” ).
This is the first launch of the Ukrainian Earth remote sensing satellite in the last 10 years.
In accordance with the instructions of the President and the Government of Ukraine, the Ministry of Strategic Industries of Ukraine, the State Space Agency of Ukraine (SCAU), the Design Bureau “South” and the National Center for Space Management and Testing together with other ministries and agencies creation of a spacecraft and a terrestrial complex.
Ministers for Strategic Industries of Ukraine Pavlo Ryabikin, Chairman of the State Space Agency of Ukraine Volodymyr Taftay and a team of specialists of the State Enterprise CB Pivdenne named after MK Yangel “watched the launch of the satellite at the launch site of the US Air Force.
First Deputy Minister for Strategic Industries of Ukraine Denis Sharapov and Director of the Department of State Policy of the Aerospace Industry of the Ministry of Strategy and Industry Vitaliy Chitak MK Yangel ”, the National Center for Space Management and Testing (NCSU) and other enterprises and institutions of the space sector watched the online broadcast of the launch of the satellite from the premises of STAU and NCUA.
The satellite “Sich-2-1” (“Sich-2-30”) was manufactured by SE “Pivdenne” named after MK Yangel “obtaining digital images for the Earth’s surface in the visible and near infrared range of electromagnetic wavelengths using monitoring of land use resources, vegetation, forest and aquatic plants, disaster response, Earth’s magnetosphere parameters and more. The spacecraft has a resolution of 6.1 m with a range of 36.5 km. The weight of the satellite is 153 kg.
The launch of the Sich-2-1 satellite (Sich-2-30) is the first step in creating an orbital group of Earth remote sensing satellites, which is scheduled to be completed in 2025.
The use of the satellite will provide an opportunity to solve many pressing problems of socio-economic, educational, informational, scientific and informational nature, as well as ensure the realization of Ukraine’s interests in the field of national security and defense.
In the international aspect, “Sich-2-1” (“Sich-2-30”) will be involved in the implementation of European remote sensing programs Copernicus (environmental monitoring and security monitoring program, coordinated and managed by the European Commission), which will facilitate Ukraine’s accession European Space Agency and integration into the European Union in general.
The national satellite “Sich-2-1” (“Sich-2-30”) will give Ukraine the opportunity to implement a number of international projects for the exchange of satellites of these remote sensing data, their production and use.
