the committees press Gualtieri for the linear park
A large green area that extends from Porta Maggiore to the ancient city of Gabii. With a long cycle / pedestrian lane in the center that also acts as a link with the railway stations, therefore gentle mobility, the archaeological finds of the area and zero-kilometer food production. Utopia? Perhaps. But the dream can become reality if politics proves to be able to listen.
The linear park of East Rome
To promote the project of the linear park of East Rome, numerous associations and social realities of the territories included between the municipalities of Rome involved, namely the IV, V and VI. Neighborhoods coordinated by the Parco lineaRE committee (where RE stands for Rome Est) chaired by Roberto Pallottini: “We have been working on this idea for several years now, a vision that has obviously changed over time and has been shaped into what is current need of the territories and of the Pallottine citizens. In fact the idea of uniting these territories, apparently distant from each other, was to save and redevelop the green areas left in a state of neglect and degradation. With the park as a glue, enriched by a cycle / pedestrian path that allows people to move with the greenest means of transport that exists in the world: the bicycle. it can give rise to such a policy promoted at a European level, that is zero kilometer food production. I am thinking in this sense of Tenuta del Cavaliere “.
Archeology, food policy and sustainable mobility
In particular, there are six territories involved. The Tiburtino archaeological park, the area between Casalbertone to the west and via dei Fiorentini to the east, that between via dei Fiorentini to the west and via Grotta di Gregna to the east, between via Grotta di Gregna to the west and viale Togliatti to the east, east of viale Togliatti (Tor Sapienza, La Rustica and Cervelletta) and finally the area of Ponte di Nona up to the archaeological park of the ancient city of Gabii on the border with the municipality of Monte Compatri. A real “green” infrastructure that combines a sustainable mobility system interconnected with railway stations, archaeological sites, naturalistic areas, cultural attractions. After 4 years of work, in which the project was shaped and took shape, the Committee has drawn up a map that clearly summarizes the vocation of their vision (image that we see at the head of this article). With the planned cycle / pedestrian path around which the linear park has been designed: “We think of the areas returned to the Municipality of Rome by Italian Railways, such as the Serenissima park to give an example, on which there is a project that is now too old because it is enough to put two trees and a few benches to make it really functional – explains Cinzia Paolino of the Committee -. Serving an overall intervention capable of enhancing them, putting them in communication and networking for the users. Otherwise, interventions will always remain fragmented and that are of no use to anyone “.
The control room and funds of the Pnrr
Coordination must therefore also exist at an institutional level: “We need a control room that involves the Capitoline departments for Urban Planning, Green Areas, Mobility and also Culture – says Pallottini -. The path started with the previous ste administration must therefore continue. Indeed, it must get to the heart to give an answer to a project that directly involves at least 250 thousand inhabitants of Rome, but which in its use sees many more ”. Redevelopment, connection, sustainable mobility. “All concept well inserted in the European guidelines – continues Pallottini -, we believe that the funds of the NRP are a great opportunity to see the value of this very precious work”.
Then the ball passes to the junta led by the mayor Roberto Gualtieri. “We asked for a meeting with the new administration, and the first to receive our invitation was the commissioner for Green and the Waste Cycle, Sabrina Alfonsi – concludes Pallottini -. But the other councilors must also answer (Veloccia for Urban Planning, Patanè for Mobility and Gotor for Culture) because this control room we are asking for must be launched, specifying the roles, the work to be done and the resources that can be put in place. Our goal is to close the agreement by March “.
