Strasbourg vs Montpellier predictions, preview, team news and more
This Sunday, Strasbourg will host Montpellier in a Ligue 1 match at the Meinau stadium.
Strasbourg currently occupies 8th place in the standings, while Montpellier climbs high in 5th.
So can Strasbourg get a win here, or will Montpellier continue their momentum and pick up another three points?
The face-to-face Strasbourg-Montpellier
This is the second time that Strasbourg and Montpellier have met in 2022, when the two teams met in the round of 16 of the Coupe de France on January 2, with Montpellier winning 1-0.
Since then, Strasbourg have taken a 0-2 victory over struggling Metz, with goals from Ludovic Ajorque and Jean-Eudes Aholou propelling them to 8th place.
Overall, Strasbourg have enjoyed one of the best runs in Ligue 1 in recent months, as they have lost just one of their last eight games, scoring a total of 18 goals in the process.
Montpellier, however, finished 2021 as a Ligue 1 form team. They have won their last four league games, scoring 12 goals and conceding just two in return.
Overall, Olivier Dall’Oglio’s side have won seven of their last ten games and look well equipped for a race for a European spot.
However, it will be their first league game of 2022, as their meeting with Troyes last weekend was called off due to their opponents struggling with a COVID-19 outbreak.
Recent meetings between these two teams – including the match at the start of the month – have favored Montpellier. They have won three of their last six meetings with Strasbourg, who last beat them in September 2019.

Strasbourg vs Montpellier Prediction
Both teams have had good runs lately, and their encounter in the Coupe de France was a close game decided by a single goal.
However, an extra week of rest and preparation may have done Montpellier good, and they have pretty much a full squad to call on here as well.
Therefore, a narrow away win is the prediction.
