Liberal Initiative focuses on campaign in Porto, Lisbon and Setúbal to reach 4.5% of votes
The Liberal Initiative wants to reach 4.5% of the elected representatives in the legislative elections, concentrating its electoral campaign in Porto, Lisbon and Setúbal and making its program known in the form of a “traveling exhibition”.
According to the provisional program made available to journalists, the president of the Liberal Initiative, João Cotrim Figueiredo, will focus his campaign on the coast of the country, covering eight of the 18 districts of mainland Portugal.
His agenda does not, however, include trips to the archipelagos of Madeira and the Azores.
The liberal campaign will have two to three a day, essentially about street initiatives, visits to hospitals, lunches, dinners and meetings with companies and entities, an official source from IL told Lusa today.
In addition to the “voice” of the party, the Liberal Initiative has to make known its program, with about 100 proposals and elections explained in 30 elections if, in the format of a “traveling exhibition”.
In a total of panels, which already stand out, for Aveiro installed in Guimarães and which follow, the Liberal Initiative and the party are the main measures of the electoral program for the closest and party.
“It is not the first time that the Liberal party has opted for a different format to make the electoral program available to the population. In 2019, the Liberal Initiative made the electoral program available on a poster in Lisbon, at Alameda Dom Afonso Henriques, and in Porto, at Cordoaria,” said the source.
The day before the official start of the electoral campaign, on Saturday, João Cotri Figueiredo focuses on health, problems in the countryside and business associations with the Centro Hospitalar e Universitário de Coimbra (CHUC) and the Business Association of the Viseu Region, by the heads of the list accompanied by the districts.
The following day, Sunday, the focus will be on sport where, in Matosinhos, in the district of Porto, a mini beach soccer tournament will be organized, then heading to Aveiro to join the festivities in honor of São Gonçalinho.
From Aveiro, the IL campaign passes through Lisbon on Monday, since João Cotrim Figueiredo will participate in the evening in the RTP debate with all parties with parliamentary seats, following the following day through the districts of Lisbon, Leiria and Braga.
The liberal caravan will be in the North on Wednesday, with initiatives in Braga and Guimarães, heading down the next day to Lisbon for a debate on Antena 1.
Between Thursday, the 20th, and Tuesday, the 25th, the president of IL will focus on the district of Lisbon, to which he dedicates four of these six days, and Setúbal, where he will be two.
The last days of the campaign, namely Wednesday, will be dedicated to the North, more precisely to Porto, the city where the national tour will take place on Thursday and Friday.
João Cotrim Figueiredo was the first deputy in Liberal history when he got his election in the debut laws, in 2019.
At the time, he was not yet the president of the party, the charge came a few months later, after the departure of Carlos Guimarães Pinto.
The electoral candidates chosen for January 30 are elected: 4.5% of the votes and five constituents.
