Former Hungary comes to life again for 3D reconstruction (video)
The question of 3D reconstruction is no longer what the medieval castle of Buda or the basilica of Székesfehérvár might have been like. Today’s modeling and graphic procedures can be used to recall the greatest buildings of former Hungary – read Architecture and the hirado.hu based on the Hungarian Nation in Article.
It is a common method of reconstruction drawing in architecture and monument protection. Its preparation is not particularly complicated, often the head of the former building can be recalled by projecting the floor plan.
This, of course, was done by hand before the advent of the computer, and the drawings made in this way also had a kind of artistic charm. In recent years, however, the visualization itself has evolved tremendously, creating almost photographic images, especially if they also analyze and present the surrounding landscape. This is already done professionally in Hungary, so works can be made to present Székesfehérvár, which stands out as an island from the swamp.
In addition to the latest archaeological findings, these may also use analogies.
It is known, for example, that the coronation church was built on the model of the German emperors, and was completely rebuilt before Turkish rule.
The images taken in this way are beautiful, startling and heartbreaking at the same time, as only the foundation walls of most of the buildings shown are visible.
Many contemporary depictions of the Buda Castle are known, as well as several significant parts after the Second World War. it is known that the Prague Castle and the Wawel in Krakow were built on this model. Yet it is almost unbelievable to see in a realistic visuals. Only details of the castle of Kisvárda remain, these are not insignificant, but only faint reflections of the building that once stood there.
During the visualization, several periods of a building can be presented.
In addition to construction periods, specific events can also be presented with the help of videos, as video can also be produced well from a 3D model. Such a series of films was made about Eger, where we can also observe the history of the castle and the siege. The strangely high-roofed cathedral, which was just half-finished at the time of the siege, the huge sanctuary has been completed, but the right-handed part of the building has not yet been demolished. And the military preparations sealed the fate of the new part of the building, as Dobó demolished it and set up cannon stands in its place.
This status can be seen in the video showing the siege.
Certain buildings and cities were more fortunate than Eger or Fehérvár. The bishop’s castle in Győr, for example, still stands today, and the area around the drawbridge remains in its best medieval condition.
Today, Szeged is better known for its boulevard and boulevard city structure and special dome square, although it was already a significant city in the Middle Ages. However, the country’s medieval monuments were decimated by Turkish rule and subsequent reconstruction. However, by browsing the 3D reconstructions, we can recall the former Hungary.
